Evaluation Question 7

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

The layout from the preliminary task has now improved. i feel that i added more coverlines. With my final magazine over i decide to follow the 'T' format ,making the magazine have more structure compared to my preliminary task. I also made my coverlines bigger and punctuated properly making the magazine look better overall. I edited my main image on my final piece which shows the progression I have made with using things such as photoshop. The image I used for my final piece had the background removed from it leaving my magazine with a plain white background.

The coverlines for my magazine have improved by the way that I used better font that suited my target audience. I also improved the layout of my coverlines by having them down both sides of my main image. Alongside this I removed the bullet points I used in my preliminary task and instead added two font colours and more information on the front cover. By improving my coverlines makes the magazine look more appealing.

The contents of my magazine also improved by having better suited colours for my target audience which all suited each other. My final contents page also included more page numbers for the magazine as well as more information about the pages. I added a heading following the same font which is associated with my magazine which made it more eye catching. This shows an improvement from my first contents page as it now includes more of the features a contents page has.

Another way magazine improved from my preliminary is by the photos I used within it. With my first magazine I used no editing on the photos and used the background the photos had when I took them. This changed with my final piece as i edited the photos to have a plain white background in the style of my chosen photographer. This shows a progression from my preliminary task to my final piece as I had done further research as to how I wanted my photos to look. They were also mostly of better quality and there was more of them which makes the magazine more appealing.
